Wights

Image
Wights are undead. Undead are once-living creatures animated by spiritual or supernatural forces. They have darkvision. Undead have immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms). They have immunity to bleed, death effects, disease, paralysis, poison, sleep effects, and stunning. Undead are not subject to nonlethal damage, ability drain, or energy drain. They are immune to damage to their physical ability scores, as well as to exhaustion and fatigue effects. They cannot heal damage on their own if they are unintelligent, although they can be healed. Negative energy (such as an inflict spell) can heal undead creatures. They may have fast healing regardless of the creature’s intelligence. They have immunity to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless). Undead are not at risk of death from massive damage, but are immediately destroyed when reduced to 0 hit points.

The heroes dropped and stabilized Kaven. When he fell, Lucrecia sweetly acknowledged his work - "These oafish Kreegs have had quite a lot of trouble taking Rannick without the lovely details Kaven provided us. My love did an excellent job!" Lucrecia preferred to fight with her daggers. When faced with overwhelming odds and injured, she fled. Barl, the stone giant who sat on the throne preferred to let his bodyguard fight his fights while he flew above the battlefield, casting spells. The heroes killed him and his stone giant bodyguard. Some treasure was heaped haphazardly behind Barl's throne. The bulk of this stash of treasure was worth 9,200 gp, and consisted of various weapons, art objects, gems, trade goods, and other treasures weighing just over 300 pounds in all. Mixed in with all of this treasure, though, were a few magic items - most of them taken from defeated Black Arrows. These included 32  +1 arrows , a suit of  +2 light fortification studded leather , a  +1 l

Giants, Stone

Stone giants are giant humanoids. Humanoids usually have two arms, two legs, and one head, or a human-like torso, arms, and a head. Humanoids have few or no supernatural or extraordinary abilities, but most can speak and usually have well-developed societies. They are usually Small or Medium (with the exception of giants). Humanoids breathe, eat, and sleep. A giant is a humanoid creature of great strength, usually of at least Large size. Giants have low-light vision. Stone giants prefer thick leather garments, dyed in shades of brown and grey to match the stone around them. Adults are about 12 feet tall, weigh about 1,500 pounds, and can live to be 800 years old. Stone giants are accomplished rock throwers. A stone giant can hurl rocks up to Small size. Stone giants fight from a distance whenever possible, but if they can’t avoid melee, they favor gigantic clubs chiseled out of stone. A favorite tactic of stone giants is to stand nearly motionless, blending in with the background, then

The hill giant did his best to hold off the heroes while the ogres in the clanhold gathered weapons and came to their aid. The heroes killed him. The Clanhold. Fire and thick black smoke reigned here, spewing from black pits in the bedrock where forge fires glowed. Anvils loomed throughout this enormous cavern. Giant hammers and glowing half-forged blades and axe heads lay next to the anvils. A work crew of ten ogres slaved away, toiling at these forges to craft giant blades and other weapons from obstinate iron. A single Kreeg taskmaster ordered the ogres to attack the heroes, laughing as they stumbled to their deaths. The Kreeg snatched up a red-hot blade and went to work as well. The heroes killed all of them. The Rune-Bound King. This gigantic statue was of the rune giant Gargadros, a onetime general in Karzoug's army. In the chaos that followed the fall of Thassilon, Gargadros seized Hook Mountain and the surrounding environs as his own, becoming the first of the line of Dread

Harrowing the Hook, Part 2 (Thursday-Monday, Kuthona (XII) 19th-23rd, 4707 AR)

The great rains turned to driving snow as winter came with a fury upon the Hook. Autumn was a forgotten dream as cutting wind lanced through wool and leather, and treacherous ice crawled along the mountainside. Life was cruel and short on the Hook, more than ever as winter sank her teeth into its crags. And near the twisted peak of the notorious mountain, the Kreeg ogres had lost Fort Rannick, but their anger lived on! Reaching the base of Hook Mountain was no huge problem, but the last few miles included several frightening climbs. The heroes followed hunting trails and made the climb to the hold in 3 hours. Their journey was livened up by an encounter with 3 annis hags, who the heroes defeated. Snow fell for the duration of their trip, and the temperatures were cold. Hook Mountain Clanhold As the heroes finally crested the last craggy outcrop about a half-mile from Hook Mountain's 10,000-foot-high peak, they found a gaping cave belching forth foul black smoke. The cave entrance l

Skin color among hill giants ranges from light tan to deep, ruddy brown. Their hair is brown or black, with eyes the same color. Hill giants wear layers of crudely prepared hides with the fur left on. They seldom wash or repair their garments, preferring simply to add more hides as their old ones wear out. Adults are around 10 feet tall and weigh about 1,100 pounds. Hill giants can live to be 200 years old, but almost never do. Hill giants prefer to fight from high, rocky outcroppings, where they ca

The heroes decided to take some much needed rest and time to upgrade their equipment. During that time they used magic to learn that Lucrecia is the lamia matriarch whom they were looking for, and that she is still alive, although not within 10 miles of Turtleback Ferry. They also learned that the attack on Fort Rannick was the result of treachery from within, but that neither Commander Bayden nor Myriana were part of this plan. They then prepared for their journey to Hook Mountain and the Kreeg Clanhold. Snow fell for the duration of their trip, and the temperatures were cold. Valley of Broken Trees: In this dry gulch, the trees found it difficult to grow due to poor soil and frequent ogre vandalism. Recently, a hill giant had claimed this valley as his own. The heroes drove him away.
