Local Heroes, Part 3 (Sunday-Monday, Rova 23rd-24th, 4707 AR)

After they finished their business at the Boneyard, the heroes went downtown to sell off their loot and buy new equipment. A simple walk down Main Street resulted in local baker Alma Avertin charging out to press a fresh-baked loaf of bread into the arms of Bruthien and Tsela, the skinniest, with worried comments that they must be starving. In addition, the combination of Tsela's good looks, fame, and heroic qualities sends ripples through town, and now and then the heroes overhear rumors and whispers about his "availability". The heroes stopped by Bottled Solutions on their shopping trip. This cluttered shop is filled with shelves upon shelves of bottles, bags, and other alchemical containers, some covered with dust and others so new that the pungent stink of their brewing still fills the air. The shop is run by the half-elf Nisk Tander. Eventually they ended up at Sandpoint Market. On most days, Sandpoint's marketplace is empty save for the odd group of chi

Skeletons

Image
Skeletons are undead. Undead are once-living creatures animated by spiritual or supernatural forces. Undead have darkvision. Undead are immune to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms). Undead are immune to bleed, death effects, disease, paralysis, poison, sleep effects, and stunning. Undead are not subject to nonlethal damage, ability drain, or energy drain. They are immune to damage to their physical ability scores, as well as to exhaustion and to fatigue effects. They cannot heal damage on their own if they are unintelligent, although they can be healed. Negative energy (such as an inflict spell) can heal undead creatures. They may heal fast regardless of the creature's intelligence. Undead are immune to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless). Undead are not at risk of death from massive damage, but are immediately destroyed and cannot be stabilized while

Local Heroes, Part 2 (Saturday-Sunday, Rova 22nd-23rd 4707 AR)

As Sandpoint recovers from the attack and buries its (thankfully few) dead, the citizens do their best to get on with their lives. The cathedral is consecrated the next day during a much more subdued and indoor ceremony. The heroes' names soon become house knowledge. Everywhere the heroes go in town, locals welcome them. Certainly not everyone in town wants to be the heroes' new best friend, but the locals make the heroes feel more than welcome. The heroes followed Ameiko to the Rusty Dragon. This large structure is Sandpoint's oldest inn, notable for the impressive (and quite rusty) iron dragon that looms on the building's roof, doubling as a lightning rod and decoration. Owned and operated for the past 5 years by the lovely and popular Ameiko Kaijitsu, the Rusty Dragon is not only one of the town's most popular eateries (made so, in large part, by the spicy and exotic food served here), but also a great place to meet visitors from out of town, since most

Goblin Dogs

Image
Goblin dogs are animals. An animal is a living, nonhuman creature, usually a vertebrate with no magical abilities and no innate capacity for language or culture. Animals have low-light vision. Animals breathe, eat, and sleep. Loathed by men and beasts alike, goblin dogs are ugly, stinking, craven, and foul-tempered. It's no surprise that goblins find kindred spirits in these shunned, disgusting beasts. Constantly itching, afflicted with a species-wide mange exacerbated by prolific dander, even the healthiest goblin dog looks sickly and starved. Despite its name, the goblin dog is in fact a species of rodent grown monstrously large. Their long-legged shape and proclivity to run and hunt in packs earned them their popular name, a name that many goblins take issue with, as it galls the average goblin to consider these, their favored mounts, having anything at all to do with actual dogs. Of course, being goblins, they haven't bothered to come up with alternate n

Local Heroes, Part 1 (Saturday, Rova 22nd 4707 AR)

The heroes dispatched the goblin pyros and the warchanter cast cure light wounds on herself after she was first wounded. She fought to the death. After tangling with the first two groups of goblins, the heroes were wounded. All around them goblins were performing their antics (a goblin leapt off a roof in an attempt to land on a victim but missed and broke his neck, a goblin threw a lit torch at a fleeing mother only to have it land on another goblin and light his armor on fire), but they were allowed to catch their breaths. Die, Dog, Die! The final event at the goblin raid occurred after things at the festival itself had calmed somewhat. Here and there, the sounds of battle, clanging swords, calls of support by the town guard, and shrieking and singing goblins echoed through the streets, but at the festival itself, most of the citizens had fled. One or two goblins remained behind to scavenge food, and many more lay dead (along with a few unfortunate citizens). It was obviou

Goblins

Image
Goblins are goblinoid humanoids. A humanoid usually has two arms, two legs, and one head, or a human-like torso, arms, and a head. Humanoids have few or no supernatural or extraordinary abilities, but most can speak and usually have well-developed societies. They are usually Small or Medium (with the exception of giants). Humanoids breathe, eat, and sleep. Goblinoids are stealthy humanoids who live by hunting and raiding and who all speak Goblin. Goblins prefer to dwell in caves, amid large and dense thickets of thistles and brambles, or in structures built and then abandoned by others. Very few goblins have the drive to build structures of their own. Coastlines are favored, as goblins are quite fond of sifting through junk and flotsam in an unending quest to find treasure among the refuse of more civilized races. Goblin hatred runs deep, and few things inspire their wrath more than gnomes (who have long fought against goblins), horses (who frighten goblins tre

Festival and Fire (Saturday, Rova 22nd 4707 AR)

Image
For five years, the faithful of Sandpoint have attended church in temporary structures erected after fire destroyed the previous temple, and while their new religious leader was helpful, kind, and wise, church wasn't the same. Now, the new cathedral is finally done. All that remains is for the Swallowtail Festival to renew the site's blessings from the gods and it will be as if the Sandpoint fire had never occurred. The heroes were already in Sandpoint when this adventure began. The Swallotail Festival The Swallotail Festival begun promptly, as scheduled, on the Autumnal Equinox. The square before the church quickly became crowded as locals and travelers arrived, and several merchant tents featuring food, clothes, local crafts, and souvenirs were there to meet them. Welcoming Speeches: The turnout for the opening speeches was quite respectable, and the four keynote speakers each delivered short but well-received welcomes to the festival. Mayor Deverin's friend
